


Position Paper Guidelines
What Is A Position Paper​

A position paper is a document prepared by delegates before the conference that showcases their knowledge of the agendas and the delegates' assigned countries. This document must be written from the perspective of the nation you are representing, not from an objective or personal viewpoint.

What Should Be Included In Your Position Paper
Some common sections of a position paper that we recommend you to include are:

Background of the topic and the country’s relation to the topic

Country stance on the topic

Proposed solutions

Specifications
The position paper should follow the specifications below:

Font size: 12
-
Font: Times New Roman
-
Alignment: Justified
-
Citation format: APA 7th or Harvard

Please ensure that you have both in-text citations and bibliography.

If you are uncertain, please use an online citation website as improper citation will be considered as plagiarism.

Language: Only British English or only American English will be accepted. Any other
languages applied throughout the papers will not be considered. -
Page limit: Refer to the guidelines from your respective council's Research Reports.
Submissions

The deadline for position paper submissions will vary. Refer to the guidelines from your respective council's Research Reports. Ideally, you should submit your position papers a few days before the conference date.

Prior to submission, please rename your position paper into Name_Country_Council_PMUN2025. Only documents that are in .docx and .pdf will be accepted.

Papers will be subjected to a 20% plagiarism limit and AI detection (or as per Dais standards within respective council Research Report). The usage of generative AI (whether in documents or in council) is strictly forbidden and delegates found guilty will be subjected to penalties at the discretion of the Board of Dais.
Late Submissions and Extensions
Please email the Board of Dais for an extension if you cannot submit your position paper on time. Extensions will be granted on a case by case basis due to the reason given. Late submissions without reason will not be eligible for the council’s Best Position Paper Award.
Special Councils
For RE100, ASEAN & IPC, please refer to your chairs on your versions’ of the position paper before the conference begins. They will also be giving separate instructions on what the paper should include, hence, please adhere to that.
